After winning the second One Day International (ODI) match against SouthAfrica, Australia has claimed the top position in the International CricketCouncil (ICC) ODI rankings.
According to the newly released ICC ODI rankings, Australia is now at thetop with 121 ratings, while Pakistan is second with 120 ratings, and Indiais third with a rating of 114.
Australia’s decision to bowl after winning the toss in the recent matchagainst South Africa, along with their strong bowling performance, provedbeneficial. Australia defeated South Africa by a significant margin of 123runs in the second match of the five-match ODI series.
As a result, Australia has dethroned Pakistan as the world number one ODIteam. Pakistan had recently claimed the top position in the ICC ODIrankings after a clean sweep against Afghanistan in a three-match ODIseries.
Now, Pakistan has another golden opportunity to become the world number oneODI team if they win their match against India in the Super Four stage ofthe Asia Cup.
