Islamabad: A senior Indian diplomat was summoned to the Ministry of ForeignAffairs on Wednesday to register Pakistan’s strong protest over ceasefireviolations by the Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) , resultingin serious injuries to three innocent civilians.
Due to indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forceson September 8 in Bedori Sector of the LoC, 57-year-old Muhammad Altaf,27-year-old Muhammad Aftab and 40-year-old Tahir Iqbal, who alla areresidents of Village Banjori, sustained serious injuries.
The Indian occupation forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB)have been continuously targeting civilian populated areas with artilleryfire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons. This year, India hascommitted 2199 ceasefire violations to date, resulting in 17 shahadats andserious injuries to 171 innocent civilians.
Condemning the deplorable targeting of innocent civilians by the Indianoccupation forces, it was underscored that such senseless acts are in clearviolation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, and are also against allestablished humanitarian norms and professional military conduct.
These egregious violations of international law reflect consistent Indianattempts to escalate the situation along the LoC and are a threat toregional peace and security. It was added that by raising tensions alongthe LoC and the WB, India cannot divert attention from the grave humanrights situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
