Pakistan and China decide to take 60 billion CPEC to next phase: Sources

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China have agreed to take multi billions dollarsCPEC project to the next phase.

Both have decided to work together towards implementation of the ongoingprojects of China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

CPEC to expand the initiative to new areas of cooperation.

This understanding was reached in various meetings of the Chinese ForeignMinister Wang Yi with Pakistani leadership during former’s three-dayofficial visit to Islamabad concluded yesterday.

According to a statement of Foreign Office of Pakistan, the new areasinclude socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, anti-corruption,agricultural cooperation and industrial development.

It said the visit had a special significance as it came right after theinstallation of new government and on the day of the oath-taking ceremonyof the new President.

The statement said the visit helped in further strengthening the strategiccooperative partnership between the two countries.

The two sides had in-depth exchange of views on all issues of mutualinterest. The visit provided an opportunity to the two sides to reaffirmtheir all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

During the meetings, Pakistani leadership conveyed that CPEC is a nationalpriority for Pakistan and it is committed to the successful implementationof CPEC. There was complete consensus on the future trajectory of CPECbetween Pakistan and China.

During his visit, Mr. Wang Yi held delegation level talks with ForeignMinister followed by a joint press conference. He also called on thePresident, Prime Minister, Speaker National Assembly and Chief of ArmyStaff.
