Pakistan Approves First National AI Policy Aiming to Create 3 Million Jobs

*Islamabad, August 10, 2025* — In a historic move toward technologicaladvancement, Pakistan has officially approved its first National ArtificialIntelligence (AI) Policy. The landmark policy, announced on Saturday, setsambitious targets including the creation of three million jobs by 2030 andaims to boost the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 7 to 12 percent.

The approval marks a major step forward for Pakistan in aligning withglobal trends in emerging technologies. The policy envisions thedevelopment of a robust AI ecosystem that will not only foster innovationbut also integrate AI solutions into key sectors such as healthcare,agriculture, education, and governance.

According to the Ministry of IT and Telecom, the National AI Policy focuseson building human capital, promoting AI research and development, andencouraging private sector involvement. Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, stated thatthe policy aims to position Pakistan as a regional leader in AI. “With thisinitiative, we are opening the door to economic transformation throughAI-driven solutions. It’s about making Pakistan not just a user of AI, buta contributor to the global AI economy,” he said.
