ISLAMABAD – The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) on Mondayrevealed the names of six individuals and top political leadership, who areon the hit-list of terrorists and could be targeted during their electioncampaign.
Briefing the Senate Standing committee on Interior, Director NACTAUbaidaullah Farooq said the body has forwarded 12 threat alerts to thefederal and provincial interior ministries and other law enforcementagencies which include six alerts of heads of political parties by name andother alerts about senior leadership.
The name of six individuals include chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)Imran Khan, chief Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Khan Wali, formerchief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Qaumi WatanParty chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, former chief minister KP Akram KhanDurrani and Talha Saeed, son of Hafiz Saeed as well as the top leadershipsof Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) who areon the hit list of terrorists and could target them during the upcominggeneral elections.
Director NACTA said that threat alerts have been issued to concernedauthorities in this regard. In the last meeting NACTA officials hadrevealed that general threats have been issued where terrorists couldtarget public gatherings/meetings and processions during the electioncampaign.
The committee which met with Rehman Malik in the chair here on Mondayexpressed grave concerns over the threats and directed the Ministry ofInterior to provide full proof security to the party heads and those forwhom threat alerts were issued.——————————
Malik asked the Interior Ministry to ensure full proof security inIslamabad Capital Territory and to write to the provincial home departmentsas well as IGPs to take cognizance of these serious threats and takemeasures as required.
The Committee took strong notice of the fact that Pakistan has beencategorized in the Grey list by Financial Action Task Force (FATF) andcondemned the act by calling it a mischievous act of Indian lobby.
Chairman Committee observed that Pakistan is the country that has givenmost sacrifices in war on terror and still the world is appeasing the Indialobby. He said that Indian government is openly supporting and financingRSS- Indian terrorist organization involved in violence against Muslims inIndian Occupied Kashmir and other parts of the country yet India is notbeing included in such list and not being condemned by International rightsorganizations.
