Captain (R) Safdar picture of hiding in cave with guns to avoid NAB arrest goes viral

ISLAMABAD – A picture circulating on social media has shown former primeminister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law, Captain (retd) Safdar hiding in a cavenear Mansehra following conviction in the Avenfield case beforesurrendering to authorities in Rawalpindi.

On Friday, an accountability court sentenced the son-in-law of the formerpremier to one year in jail for cheating while announcing the verdict in acorruption reference pertaining to Sharif family’s Avenfield apartment inLondon, UK.

After the verdict, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)announced his surrender but he had gone underground Saturday night toescape arrest after the NAB teams swang into action.

The undated picture reportedly shared by aidesof Safdar showed Safdar sitting on the ground along with his friend while asmall suitcase and two guns can also be seen in the background.

The PML-N sources claimed that Safdar left the cave on Sunday morning toreach Rawalpindi by the infrequent Chappar Road, which linked Lassan Nawabarea of Mansehra with Haripur, Dawn News reported.

However, a local leader of the PML-N in Mansehra has denied the stay ofSafdar in a cave, besides claiming that he had gone straight to Rawalpindifrom his hometown for court arrest.
