KARACHI – Arrest warrants for former Sindh police chief Ghulam HaiderJamali have been issued by accountability court in a corruption case.
Jamali had been ‘missing’ since the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Tuesday’shearing of the illegal recruitment case in which the court had cancelledpre-arrest bails of Jamali and other accused police officers.
As the NAB court began its proceedings on Thursday, the accused policeofficials Tanveer Ahmed, Fida Hussain and others appeared in court.
Last year, the NAB court filed a reference in the case, pleading before thecourt that the accused are responsible for the illegal hiring of 881 peoplein the Sindh Reserve Police in Hyderabad in 2013-14.
NAB claims the recruitments made for several posts caused a loss of overRs500 million to the national exchequer.
