ISLAMABAD: After serving for two years as the Attorney-General of Pakistan,Khalid Javed Khan stepped down from the post late Saturday night afterImran Khan ceased to hold the office of the prime minister of Pakistan ashe lost the majority in the National Assembly.
“I have been serving the post of Attorney General of Pakistan sinceFebruary, 2020. For this honor and privilege, I remain profoundly gratefulto Prime Minister Imran Khan,” Khalid Javed said while tendering hisresignation.
A letter sent by him to the President of Pakistan Arif Alvi stated:
“I have tried to serve the country to the best of my ability and conscienceand I now deem it appropriate to tender my resignation.”
The Opposition *ousted Imran Khanlink*fromthe post of prime minister through a successful no-confidence motion,making him the first prime minister of Pakistan to be removed by thismethod.
