Pakistan PM raises Kashmir issue with UN Secretary General in China

*BOAO: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday urged United NationsSecretary General Antonio Guterres to use his good office to highlightunprecedented Indian atrocities in Indian held Kashmir. .*

During a meeting on the sidelines of BOAO Forum for Asia in China, theprime minister expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation inIndian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) and the mindless killing of innocentKashmiris by the Indian occupation forces, according to a statement issuedby PM House.

He conveyed grave concern over the use of pellet guns by Indian forces andadded that Pakistan seeks a just and peaceful resolution of the dispute,reflecting the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, in accordancewith UN Security Council Resolutions.

Abbasi emphasized that the good office of UN Secretary General must playits part in highlighting Indian atrocities being inflicted upon Kashmirisin Occupied Kashmir.

He apprised that deliberate and unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indiaalong the Line of Control and the Working Boundary were resulting in themartyrdom of innocent civilians on our side. The situation can escalate toa dangerous point if the Indian side does not desist from repeatedviolations, he added.

The premier stated that Pakistan followed zero tolerance policy forterrorism and has achieved significant success in flushing out terroristelements from its soil. Pakistan has rendered huge sacrifices in the waragainst terrorism that the world must recognize them.

He also expressed grave concern at the plight of Rohingya Muslims.

The UN Secretary General acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts towardscounter-terrorism, humanitarian assistance to the Afghan refugees and theUN peacekeeping operations. He maintained that he had been advocating theneed for a serious dialogue on the Kashmir issue.
