Pakistani FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi held important meeting with Uzbekistan counterpart

Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that Pakistanand Uzbekistan enjoy warm relations based on the religion, cultural harmonyand history.

According to the details, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met hisUzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov in Islamabad today.

In the meeting, both dignitaries agreed promote bilateral cooperation indiverse fields, including trade and investment.

Both Foreign Ministers held discussion on the matters of mutual interest,and regional issues as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan andUzbekistan have been maintaining close connection to improve regionalconnectivity particularly for early materialization of the trans-Afghanrailways project among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan commended Pakistan’sefforts for promotion of contacts and establishment of peace in the region.Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also hosted a luncheon in the honorof his Uzbek counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov and his delegation at theMinister for Foreign Affairs in the federal capital.

Moreover, the Federal Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati, Adviser onCommerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Foreign Secretary SohailMahmood, Federal Secretary for Maritime Affairs Rizwan Ahmed and seniorofficers of the Minister for Foreign Affairs were also present on theoccasion.
