The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has on Tuesday rolled out a new SmartDriving License with the latest security features.
According to Islamabad Police’s spokesperson, the ITP has launched a newchip-based driving permit with helpful smart security features.
Aiming to provide better security to all the citizens and curb crimes, amicrochip having all the biometric information of an individual would beembedded to help authenticate the identity of the driver.
The spokesperson said, “In case of [an] emergency in the new license, alldata will be recorded through the chip.”
However, this new license is available at the same fee as the previouslicense.

He further added, “Through the smart license, the chances of deception willreduce. It would soon be linked to NADRA and excise’s database,” he added.
Also, an SMS Traffic Alerts System has also been launched by the capital’spolice.
