RAIGARH: An Indian Coast Guard helicopter crashed near Murud’s Nandgaon inRaigad district on Saturday. There were reportedly four crew members onboard when the helicopter crashed. Three crew members were safely evacuatedwhile one woman has suffered injuries.
The incident took place during the landing of the aircraft. It wasreportedly a Coast Guard Chetak chopper.
The helicopter had reportedly developed some technical error mid-air. Theerror came to light when the helicopter was doing coastal surveillance. Ithad a hard landing after which the helicopter hit the ground.
An Indian Navy Seaking helicopter with a medical team on-board has takenoff to provide cover to Indian Coast Guard helicopter. The crash tookplace 160 kms south of Mumbai at 2:40 pm on Saturday.
The Chetak helicopter is a high-performance aircraft which is utilised byICG in search and rescue, causality evacuation, pollution response, aircrew training and consolidation. It is an improved version of Alouette II,designed and manufactured in France and is now being manufactured underlicense by HAL Ltd.
