Afghan provincial capital likely to fall in hands of Taliban, warn top officials

*KABUL – *The Afghan official warned that if the Afghan security forces donot conduct clearance operations against the militants, the provincialcapital likely to collapse.

*The Taliban militants have stormed two security outposts in Sayad districtof northern Sar-i-Pul province, killing at least eight security personneland wounding four others, a local official said on Sunday.*

The Provincial Council Chief Mohammad Noor Rahmani told Ariana News thatthe Taliban insurgents attacked the security outposts around 01:00 am onSunday.

Rahmani said that during the clashes the police chief of Sayyad along withthree security forces was wounded.

The official noted that the Taliban have captured an outpost and seize someweapons and a police vehicle.

Separately, the Taliban militants stormed a security outpost in KhawajaGhar district of northern Takhar province today which left four policekilled and 11 others injured.

The Taliban have recently increased the scale of attacks on securityoutposts in northern provinces. On Friday, the armed group stormed anoutpost in Sar-e-Pul province, killing at least five security personnel andwounding over a dozen others.
