LAHORE – Pakistan’s batsman Haris Sohail will resume training here at theNational Cricket Academy in the next week after returning home, followingrecurrence of a right-knee injury, which he sustained during a three-daypractice match in South Africa.He will start his rehabilitation programme on January 14, under thesupervision of Dr Sohail Saleem, who will provide regular updates to thePakistan cricket team physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon.Haris said on Thursday: “It is never a great feeling to abort aninternational tour due to an injury. It was actually heart-breaking as Iwas looking forward to the Tests, until I had a recurrence during myinnings of 73 not out against Cricket South Africa Invitation XI in thebuild up to the Centurion Test.”We had anticipated that I will recover in time for the second Test, butafter it emerged that the injury will take more time to heal, it wasappropriate for me to return home and start my rehabilitation programme inLahore. I am hopeful that I will recovery completely within the next fourweeks,” he added.Haris said: “The disappointment of missing out on the Tests was compoundedby some misreporting in a section of the press.
I want to assure to all my fans, colleagues and selectors that I am fullycommitted to my cricket and the Pakistan cricket team, and will leave nostone unturned during my rehabilitation programme so that I am back on tothe fieldfully fit.”
