The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced plans to purchase modern surveillance radars for installation across various parts of the country, according to a report by ARY News on Monday. This initiative aims to enhance weather monitoring capabilities through the deployment of advanced equipment.
According to the details, five fixed surveillance radars will be installed in different regions of the country, complemented by three portable radars and 300 automatic weather stations in various cities. The fixed radars are set to be installed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Cherat, Dera Ismail Khan, Quetta, Gwadar, and Lahore. Karachi, which already has a functioning radar station, will not receive a new installation.
