TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The forces of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees, in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi-led coalition, managed to kill a number of Saudi troops and mercenaries in various parts of the Arabian Peninsula country.

In a major operation against the positions of the Saudi-led coalition in Asilan district in the south-central province of Shabwah, a number of the aggressors were killed or injured, the military source said, according to the Arabic-language Al-Manar TV.

In a surprise attack also launched by the Yemeni troops in the northwestern province of al-Jawf, several Saudi-led coalition forces were killed.

In another development, the artillery command of the Yemeni army pounded the positions of the Saudi mercenaries in the southern province of Lahij, inflicting heavy casualties on them.

The attacks against the Saudi forces came in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians and destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure by the coalition led by the Riyadh regime.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for nearly 30 months but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
