Pakistan legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram hailed as one of the greatest fast bowlers in world cricket and one of the biggest sports stars produced by Pakistan.
However, Wasim’s entry into the sports was something unexpected, revealed Pakistan legendary captain Imran Khan.
The World Cup winning skipper, while speaking about the selection procedure in Pakistan cricket, recalled that once they called for bowlers from club cricket to practice with the selected squad that was to play against New Zealand.
“We saw that one bowler was bowling better than the selected bowlers, so we did not ask for his name or anything, that bowler was Wasim,” said Imran.
Wasim made his international debut against New Zealand in 1984. The fast bowler went on to become the Sultan of swing, taking a whooping 916 international wickets for Pakistan.
