Computerised Electoral system to be launched by ECP

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to launch computerised electoral system with the cooperation of National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA).

The ECP intending to take full control of next general elections has decided to set up central computerized system with the cooperation of NADRA and for the purpose 600 million rupees will be paid to NADRA. 

The ECP has also decided to prepare electoral rolls itself.

All the provincial EC offices will be connected with the central office while provincial offices can send the new voter’s enroll to center via online.

ECP told that an agreement has been finalized with NADRA in this regard. EC will pay 600 million rupees to NADRA to establish such system. 

After implementing the new system NADRA would not enroll the voters.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Sardar Raza Muhammad Khan met with British High Commissioner and briefed him over the preparation of next general elections.

British High Commissioner Thomas Drew expressing satisfaction over the ECP preparation for next elections ensured him his full support in this connection. BHC also stressed for the complete sovereignty of ECP.
