SC directs LHC to decide Shalimar Steel Mills case in 3 months

ISLAMABAD-Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday directed the Lahore High Court (LHC) to decide the pending case of Shalimar Steel Re-Rolling Mills Private Limited in three months.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial and comprised Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, heard the case filed by the steel mills seeking refund of Rs80 million.
During the course of proceedings, Justice Umar Ata Bandial asked the steel mills counsel why the mills owners were not providing bank guarantee as they were seeking refund of Rs80 million.
The counsel for the mills said the mills had been closed for seven years and they had no money.
Justice Mazahar Naqvi said the case was pending in the high court and if the apex court gave its ruling, the main case would be affected.
Justice Bandial said nothing could be done soon due to coronavirus. He said the apex court could ask the high court to decide the case in three months.
Shalimar Steel Mills had approached the SC for recovery of Rs80 million.
