ISLAMABAD: As many as 143 candidates filed their nomination papers for 52 seats of the Senate in four provinces on Thursday.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, 34 candidates will be in the race for 12 seats in Punjab. Eleven candidates will contest for 34 seats of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 47 candidates have filed their papers in Sindh. Twenty-eight candidates have filed their papers in Balochistan.
In Punjab, 21 candidates will contest for the general seats and five each candidates will be in the race for technocrat and women seats. Three candidates have filed papers for the minorities seats.
In Sindh, 23 candidates have filed papers for the general seats, while 11 candidates will contest for the technocrat seats. Nine women will also be in the race. Four candidates have filed papers for the minorities seats.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20 candidates have filed papers for the general seats, eight for women and six for technocrat seats.
In Balochistan, 15 candidates will contest for the general seats, seven for technocrat and six for women.APP
