The investigation into the alleged corruption involving Bahria Town and the£190 million reference has taken a new twist. Zubaida Jalal Khan, formerMinister for Defence Production, shared fresh information with the NAB teamoverseeing the case. She disclosed that cabinet members not onlyrecommended an inquiry into the case but also advocated for therepatriation of the £190 million to Pakistan.
Despite these recommendations from the cabinet, Jalal claimed that formerPrime Minister Imran Khan chose to disregard them, opting not to initiatean investigation into the matter.
According to her, Imran Khan’s decision to include the case in the Cabinet, following a personal meeting with Mirza Shahzad Akbar, and the signing of aConfidentiality Deed before the Cabinet Meeting, suggests a rush to concealtheir alleged wrongdoing.
The report states, “The discretion used by accused Imran Ahmed Khan Niaziby including the case directly into the Cabinet after a personal meetingwith Mirza Shahzad Akbar, coupled with the fact that a Confidentiality Deedwas signed and submitted before the Cabinet Meeting, establishes that boththe accused persons were in haste to conceal their crime/wrongdoings.”
Furthermore, Jalal revealed that the agenda related to the case wasapproved in the cabinet without any discussion, and the minutes of themeeting were kept confidential.
This adds another layer of complexity to the £190 million case, indicatinga potential secret deal between Bahria Town and the ex-Prime Minister.
