Pakistan and Egypt mull bilateral cooperation in Pakistan Railways

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Egyptian ambassadorDr Tarek Dahroug have deliberated over possible Egyptian investments inPakistan Railways (PR).

The two officials discussed a possible bilateral partnership between therailway departments of the two countries in a meeting on Tuesday whereinthe minister underlined the importance of Main-Line 1 project which willconnect Karachi to Peshawar with over about 1,872 train track, which hesaid would yield new investment opportunities.

Rasheed also invited Egyptian companies to invest in Pakistan and addedthat the Pakistan Railways has globally advertised tender openings for 230passenger wagons and 820 freight wagons.

“In the five years from now, Pakistan will run advanced trains ensuringbest travelling facilities for commuters,” Rasheed further told theEgyptian ambassador.

According to a report by *ARY news*, Dr Dahroug said that Egypt wouldencourage a national level investment plan for Pakistani railwaysdepartment.
