After a Decade, Pakistan Navy Ship PNS Saif Docks at Bangladesh’s Chattogram Port

After more than ten years, a Pakistan Navy warship has made port inBangladesh. The guided-missile frigate PNS Saif arrived at Chattogram Port, marking a significant step in reviving naval and diplomatic engagementbetween the two South Asian nations.

According to official reports, the visit is part of a goodwill and maritimecooperation mission, highlighting Pakistan’s intent to enhance regionalstability and foster mutual understanding with Bangladesh. During its stay, the crew of PNS Saif will engage in professional interactions, jointexercises, and cultural exchanges with officers from the Bangladesh Navy.

The Pakistan Navy emphasized that such visits promote goodwill, maritimecollaboration, and people-to-people contact, while also reflectingPakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and regional maritimesecurity.

PNS Saif is one of Pakistan’s modern F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigates, equipped with advanced weapons and sensors for multi-role operations atsea. Its visit to Chattogram symbolizes a positive shift in bilateral navalrelations, which had seen limited engagement in the past decade.

Observers note that the port call may open new avenues for defensediplomacy and maritime coordination between the two countries, especiallyin areas such as anti-piracy operations, humanitarian assistance, anddisaster relief.

The ship is expected to remain in Bangladesh for a few days beforecontinuing its regional voyage as part of ongoing naval outreachinitiatives by Pakistan.
