Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban government,stated on Wednesday that Afghanistan is not responsible for establishingpeace in Pakistan. He emphasized that the Afghan government prohibits theuse of Afghan soil against Pakistan but clarified that ensuring peace inPakistan is not within Afghanistan’s purview.
This response came in reaction to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul HaqKakar’s remarks on cross-border attacks. PM Kakar had earlier noted a 60%increase in terror attacks in Pakistan since the Taliban-led governmentassumed control of Afghanistan two years ago, linking 15 Afghan citizens tothese incidents.
Mujahid asserted that Pakistan should address its domestic issues withoutattributing blame to Afghanistan.
He highlighted that the rise in attacks does not implicate Afghanistan,emphasizing the security of weapons in the country and the prohibition ofweapon smuggling and unlawful activities.
Expressing Afghanistan’s desire for amicable relations with Pakistan as aneighbor, Mujahid urged mutual understanding. He underscored Afghanistan’scommitment to preventing its soil from being used for infiltration intoother countries and urged the Pakistani government not to doubt thisresolve.
