After the Hamas attack, Israeli security forces remain on edge. In a tragicincident fueled by fear and apprehension, Israeli police mistakenly shotand killed one of their own citizens, believing him to be an attacker.
Other similar incidents have been reported where Israeli DefenceForces(IDF) have shot on friendly troops in a state of panic thinking ofthem as Hamas militants wearing IDF uniform.
Even two days after the unexpected and deadly Hamas attacks, Israelisecurity forces are still on high alert. They continue to view their owncitizens with suspicion, fearing they might be Hamas militants.
According to international news agencies, Israeli police fatally shot oneof their own citizens in Ashkelon, believing he was an attacker. No weaponswere found on the deceased, and there was no evidence to suggest hisinvolvement in the attack. It was later revealed that the person killed byIsraeli police was indeed an Israeli citizen.
It’s worth noting that Ashkelon is the same city where Hamas fighters andnaval infiltrators had previously launched an attack on the Israelimilitary. The number of Israelis killed in the Hamas attack has exceeded700, including nearly 100 soldiers.
In response, Israel has carried out airstrikes on Gaza, targeting over 800Hamas objectives and claiming to have killed hundreds of members of theorganization. The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks hassurpassed 400, with over 70 children among the casualties.
