KP government unveiled unprecedented initiative in Country’s history over married couples, child and woman s pregnancy

PESHAWAR – The provincial governmentlink of KhyberPakhtunkhwalink hasapproved the clause of the counseling of the couple over child birth in thematrimonial agreementlink (Nikah Form) anda booklet in this regard has also been prepared.

This was stated by Additional Secretary, Population Welfarelink, KhyberPakhtunkhwalink DildarMohammad while highlighting the achievement of the department during firstyear of the incumbent PTIlinkgovernment link inthe province. Director, Technical Population Welfarelink, DrNaila and Director General (DG) Fazal Rabi were also present on theoccasion.

They said that during financial year 2018-19, the department has providedfamily link planningrelated medicines and services to over one millionlink couples and 0.4million link ordinarypatients were provided free medicines.

With the cooperation of Population Welfarelink Centres,the department organized 6049 satellite camps in far-flung areas where thepeople were provided free contraceptives and other medicines while 3312extension camps were also organized with cooperaton of mobilelink service centres.

Similarly, 1.045 millionlink couples wereprovided couple year protection against pregnancy while a Population Welfarelink TrainingInstitute (PWTI) was also established to provide training to officers andnon-technical staff of the department.

The department also continued awareness campaign throughout the year toeducate people regarding familylink planning whilenearly 10,000 meetings and seminars were also organized with clerics andpublic representatives to address different kind of misconceptions in t hisregard.

For inclusion of the health hygiene matrial, like skills based educationlink and population dynamics in Pakistanlink in the syllabus and textbooks, thedepartment is working in close coordination with the Higher and SecondaryEducation link Departments.
