Nawaz Sharif breaks silence in first ever media interaction after release, avoids criticism on state institutions

ISLAMABAD – Former PM Nawaz Sharif breaks silence over the ongoingpolitical situation in the country however he avoided criticising the stateinstitutions.

In a first interaction with the journalists since his release from prisonlast month, Nawaz Sharif expressed reservations over statement by PrimeMinister Imran Khan, who had reportedly said he would get some 50 peoplearrested if he was in charge of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).“Who has given authority to Prime Minister Imran Khan for arresting 50people,” he asked.

The former prime minister said that the country’s stability is beingaffected due to proceedings aimed at exacting political revenge. He saidthat he does not know about becoming Fawad Hassan as approver in arrest ofShehbaz.

Appreciating his younger brother, he said that Shehbaz Sharif worked dayand night worked day and night and served the nation selflessly withoutcaring about his own health. “Such a person is being treated like this,” helamented.

“If it is not political victimization, then what is this all going on,” heasked. He said that If this is accountability then he say sorry for it. Hesaid his nephew Salman Shehbaz has been summoned by the NAB in an assetscase , adding that what a bigger joke than this could be?

Nawaz Sharif mentioned that all laws, including the accountability law,formed during former military ruler Pervez Musharraf’s regime should bereviewed and abolished.
