On Saturday, Asif Ali Zardari, the former president and co-chairman of thePakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), expressed his confidence in the ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP), stating that the new census notification hasmade fresh delimitation necessary.
In a statement released by the PPP on their social media platform, theco-chairman expressed his unwavering trust in Chief Election Commissioner(CEC) Sikandar Sultan Rana and all ECP members, with hopes that thecommission will conduct elections in accordance with the Constitution.
Zardari’s comments followed the demands of several PPP leaders, includingchairman Bilawal Bhutto, who called on the ECP to announce the electiondate, emphasizing that elections should be held within the constitutionaltimeframe of 90 days.
Furthermore, Asif Ali Zardari urged the caretaker government to expeditethe initiatives initiated through the Special Investment FacilitationCouncil (SIFC).
Addressing the ongoing economic crisis in the country, the former presidentadded, “Our primary concern should be the economy rather than politics.”
This change in the PPP’s stance occurred a day after PPP Chairman BilawalBhutto urged the ECP to announce the general election date and adhere tothe constitutional requirement of conducting elections within 90 days.During a conversation with journalists in Karachi, the former foreignminister called on those attempting to impose puppet governments onPakistan to refrain from such experiments and allow the people of Pakistanto make their own decisions
