An anti-terrorism court has placed PTI leaders Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, UmarSarfraz Cheema, and Khadija Shah on a five-day physical remand in terrorismcases related to the May 9 riots. This decision.
The PTI trio’s police custody has been extended until September 14. Thesecases were presided over by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abhar Gul Khanduring a hearing on Saturday. In the case of arson and incendiary speecheson Sherpao Bridge, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid was presented by the police in theAnti-Terrorism Court Lahore, where the court granted her a five-dayphysical remand.
The police’s plea included new charges related to incitement to sedition,waging war, and inciting people to riot. The investigating officerrequested a physical remand to investigate these fresh allegations againstDr. Yasmeen Rashid, which the Anti-Terrorism Court approved, scheduling hernext appearance for September 14. Notably, a case against Dr. YasmeenRashid had been registered at the Sarwar Road police station.
In a separate development, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court sent sixsuspects, who were arrested in connection with arson and siege at theShadman police station, to jail on judicial remand. Following thecompletion of their physical remand, these six accused were presented incourt. The court, however, rejected the request for further physical remandand ordered them to be sent to jail on judicial remand. The accused in thiscase included Arbaaz, Abdul Hafeez, Faheem Qaiser, Tahir Khan Muhammad Gul,and Ghulam Abbas.

Additionally, the police presented Khadija Shah, daughter of formerfinance minister Salman Shah, and former Punjab governor Umar SarfrazCheema in the case of arson attack on Askari Tower in Lahore. The policeargued that Khadija Shah should be investigated under the new provisions,requesting the court to grant her physical remand.
The court approved the police’s request and extended the physical remand ofMs. Shah and Umar Cheema until September 14. Terrorism cases have beenregistered against Khadija Shah and Umar Sarfraz Cheema at the Gulbergpolice station.
