Former PPP MPA caught committing electricity theft

The former MPA and prominent figure of the Pakistan Peoples Party, MumtazAli Chang, has been caught in a case of electricity theft at his home.

According to a spokesperson for MEPCO, the former MPA was found involved inelectricity theft, and MEPCO has apprehended him in connection with thetheft at his residence, where direct connections were illegally installedon a 15-acre farm.

More than 12 ACs were running in the farm house. MEPCO has initiated legalproceedings against Mumtaz Ali Chang in connection with electricity theft.On the other hand, Lahore Electric Supply Company continued its operationagainst electricity thieves for the third day, during which 248 connectionsacross all circles were found involved in electricity theft.

According to a spokesperson for LESCO, FIRs regarding electricity thefthave been registered at relevant police stations, including FIR No. S141FIRs. In Okara, a LESCO employee involved in electricity theft has alsobeen arrested. Among the connections caught, there were 4 industrial, 6agricultural, 2 commercial, and 239 domestic connections.

All these connections have been disconnected, and they have been chargedfor a total of 861,061 units of electricity theft, amounting to over threecrore fifty-one lakh rupees.
