Task Force to retrieve the illegal money abroad takes the first step in the right direction

ISLAMABAD – The high-powered task force—constituted to retrieve ill-gottenwealth abroad has taken the first step in the right direction

Task Force has contacted the relevant authorities in Switzerland, UK andUAE in the first phase.

The task force has expedited contacts with officials concerned of theaforementioned countries. At present, the high-powered task force isreviewing accords of Pakistan with other countries in this regard.

The task force will share list of culprits possessing ill-gotten wealthwith respective countries once legislation is finalized in this regard.Meanwhile, work on enforcing an anti-corruption rule—which offers 20pc ofthe looted wealth to the informers—in this regard is underway.

The Khan-led federal government is also mulling over to lodge legalproceedings against top 100 big fish of the country. The list includesprominent politicians, industrialists and bureaucrats among others.

The firebrand cricketer-turned-politician—now prime minister ofPakistan—had made recovery of looted wealth one of the top agenda of hiselection’s manifesto and campaign. Khan also took credit of landmarkPanamagate verdict under which powerful Nawaz Sharif was forced torelinquish from premiership.
