ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman extended an invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum, the prestigious annual investment event often referred to as “Davos in the Desert.”
The FII Forum gathers global policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators to discuss investment trends, emerging technologies, and global economic strategies aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
Prime Minister Sharif previously attended the event in Riyadh last October during a two-day official visit, where he engaged with Saudi leadership and took part in high-level talks on economic and strategic cooperation.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, “Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador, met with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s House today.”
“The Ambassador presented the Prime Minister with a signed invitation from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to participate in the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum, scheduled to be held in Riyadh from October 27 to 30, 2025.”
Upon accepting the invitation, Prime Minister Sharif conveyed warm greetings and regards to King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The two also discussed recent developments in the region during what was described as a warm and cordial meeting.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a strong and close relationship, with Riyadh supporting Islamabad’s foreign currency reserves in recent years through deposits to Pakistan’s central bank.
This assistance has played a crucial role in unlocking International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout packages and stabilizing Pakistan’s external financial position.
During Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia in October 2024, the two countries signed 34 memoranda of understanding valued at $2.8 billion, with seven of these agreements later formalized and worth $560 million.
