ISLAMABAD – Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk has forwardeda summary to President Mamnoon Hussain to convene a session of NationalAssembly in the coming week.
The summary forwarded on Thursday seeks the head of the state to call thesession of the Lower Chamber of the Parliament on August 13th, Monday.
The oath taking ceremony would be held on same day along with the Speakerand Deputy Speaker election. On August 14 the elections of Prime Ministerof Pakistan would be held.
During the first session, the lawmakers-elect will take an oathadministered by the former speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar AyyazSadiq.
Afterward, the lawmakers will elect the Prime Minister by casting vote infavor of their preferred candidate.
Currently, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief, Imran Khan and Pakistan MuslimLeague Nawaz President, Shehbaz Sharif are in the run for the top slot,however, the cricketer-turned-politician seems to be in a comfortableposition to steer the country.
PTI’s spokesperson, Fawad Chaudhry had announced that the party had securedthe support of 180 lawmakers, contending that the support of 172legislators is necessary to form government at the federal level.
Following the election, the Prime Minister will take an oath of his officewhich will be administered by President Mamnoon Hussain, most probably atthe President House.
PTI had earlier announced that it will not invite foreign dignitaries atthe oath-taking ceremony.
According to the chief of staff of Imran Khan, Naeemul Haque, the PrimeMinister will reside at the annexe of the Punjab House, instead of thepalatial PM House, under the austerity drive.
