ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the media rumoursabout the name of the Chief Minister Punjab.

PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry has revealed that Imran Khan has notselected Raja Yasir as a candidate for the slot of Punjab Chief Minister(CM).

“I will only be able to tell you who will be our candidate for the PunjabCM slot when Imran Khan sahib announces it but for now, Raja Yasir oranyone else has not been finalised for the position,” Chaudhry clarified.

Over a dozen PTI candidates are contesting for the position of Punjab CM.There is a possibility that a little-known candidate may succeed due tolack of party consensus.

During a parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday, PTI chief and primeminister-in-waiting Imran Khan said that the party wants to appoint acandidate who has never been accused of any crime.

According to PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, 164 Members ofProvincial Assembly (MPAs) attended the party meeting. They assured ImranKhan of their support to the CM nominee.

The contenders from Central Punjab include PTI Central Punjab PresidentAbdul Aleem Khan, former Punjab Assembly opposition leader Mian MahmoodurRasheed, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Dr Yasmin Rashid, PTI Information SecretaryFawad Chaudhry, Sabtain Khan and Raja Yasir Humayun Sarfraz. The contendersfrom South Punjab include PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi andMakhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.
