LAHORE (APP): The security would remain tightened and further beefed up across Punjab particularly at sensitive places, important buildings, entry and exit points, educational institutes and other public places in a view of a tragic incident in Quetta.
It was decided in a video linked RPO’s Conference led by Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera held at Central Police Office (CPO) on Monday.
The conference decided that the combing operations would be increased and coordination between the intelligence agencies and close liaison with them would be accelerated, besides to make more effective snap checking in Punjab.
One vehicle from each police station would be engaged for snap checking by installing meaningful pickets whereas all RPOs and DPOs would ensure that no kind of humiliation of citizens will be acceptable at these pickets.
All vehicles having blue lights, dark glasses, unauthorized green number plates would be thoroughly checked by the officials.
Reviewing the security of the schools, the conference decided that no school could be open without fulfilling the security SOP as issued to them earlier by the police department.
To protect all the functions and ceremonies of Independence Day, no function could be held in open area. All activities would be arranged within the four walls after getting permission from the District Intelligence Committee constituted by the Punjab government.
These committees will be comprising of DCO, DPO and two representatives of Intelligence agencies. The conference also approved the deployment for 14th August, 2016, as per the requirements of the field officers.
About 31,776 police officials would remain on duty to protect the functions of 14th August. According to deployment, 287 elite police force and 321 officials of Quick Response Force (QRF) would be the part of patrolling squad.
This patrolling squad has been given 832 vehicles and 1,679 motorcycles for the patrolling purposes. Similarly, 110 walk through gates and 2,363 metal detectors would be used for searching purposes, besides, the installation of 6,478 CCTV cameras at vulnerable points for consecutive monitoring.
The conference also reviewed the strategy to re-fix the seniority and promotion from Sub-Inspector to Inspector and Inspector to DSP rank and it was decided that all RPOs and DPOs would complete the seniority list by next Monday so that during that week the process of promotion could be completed.
All RPOs, DPOs, Addl IGP Welfare and Finance Sohail Khan, Addl IGP Operations/Investigation Punjab Arif Nawaz, Addl IGP Establishment Punjab Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Commandant PC HussainAsgher, Addl IGP PHP Amjad Javaid Saleemi, Addl IGP Special Branch Punjab Faisal Shahkar, Addl IGP Legal Ali Zulnorain, and other senior police officers also attended the meeting.
