ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court sought a comprehensive reply from 222beneficiaries who had illegally got their loans written off, warning thatin case of dissatisfaction of the court matter would be sent to theNational Accountability Bureau (NAB) .
A two-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the suomoto case related to waiving of Rs54 billion loans during the government offormer president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. During the hearing, thetop judge remarked that public money would be recovered even if the courthas to attach properties of such companies and cleared that those companieswould not respond the court notice have to face an ex-party decision.
The chief justice made it clear that all the people who got their loanswritten off illegally on a political basis or otherwise would have toreturn their loans to the national exchequer.
“As per a report of the Commission constituted by this Court, actionagainst 222 individuals/companies (page No.107 of Vol-I of Commission’sReport) had been recommended on account of the fact that the loans were notwritten-off in accordance with law,’ said the order issued by the apexcourt.
The chief justice remarked that after waiving billions of loan, companiesrunning their business smoothly and their owners using luxury cars but notready to deposit money of public exchequer.
Subsequently, further hearing of the case was adjourned till June 19.
