Data Darbar shrine suicide blast death toll rises further

LAHORE – The death toll of suicide blast outside the Data Darbar shrine inLahore mounts up to 11 after another police official succumbed to hisinjuries earlier today (Thursday).

According to media reports, the policeman Saddam Hussain, a resident ofKasur, succumbed to his injuries, bringing the toll from the terroristattack to 11.

As many as 26 another were being treated for their injuries, out of whomone was said to be in critical condition.

10 people, including five elite force cops, a security guard and civilianswere martyred in the suicide blast, which targeted a police van stationedoutside at the entrance of Data Darbar.

The martyred police officers were identified as Head Constable ShahidNazir, Head Constable Muhammad Sohail, and Constable Muhammad Saleem.

According to Punjab Chief Minister Spokesperson Shahbaz Gill, the suicidebomber was a 15-year-old boy who blew himself up near the Elite Forcepolice van stationed outside the 11th-century shrine.
