Shoaib Malik unveils his retirement plan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has unveiled his futureprogramme and the retirement plan which is not going to come anytime soon.

He plan on playing at least until the 2020 World Twenty20 and the36-year-old is aware that he will have to perform consistently to achievethat goal.

The former Pakistan captain retired from test cricket at the end of 2015,three tests after earning a shock return to the side after a gap of fiveyears.

He has, however, been a regular member of Pakistan’s limited-overs side.

“The 2019 World Cup, 50-over cricket, is my last World Cup, but I want toplay in the World T20 in 2020, that is my goal for Twenty20 cricket,” Maliksaid in a statement from the Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament.

“These are the two big goals which I’m looking at – let’s see how it goes.If I’m consistently performing then I want to play these two World Cups.”

A middle order batsman and also bowls off-spin, Malik played 35 tests forPakistan and has represented the team in 261 one-day internationals and 95Twenty20 matches.

He played for the Barbados Tridents in the CPL for the last five years buthas now joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2018 edition, which willrun from August 8 to September 16.
