New Islamabad Airport hit with controversy even before formal inauguration

ISLAMABAD – The opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid AhmedShah said that the name of new Islamabad airport should be associatedwith Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan threatening tomove Supreme court if the government alters its name.

The PPP leader said that Nawaz Sharif came back to Pakistan after ending 10years of exile because of Benazir Bhutto so new Islamabad airport should benamed after her.

The lawmaker said that next general elections would depend upon thecaretaker setup and they were trying to bring the best candidate forcaretaker Prime Minister.

He continued that they had not started consultations regarding interimsetup yet but added that the party would try to bring a name for PM after aconsultative meeting.

The 65 years old politician asserted that they accepted the ReturningOfficer (RO) election of 2013 and it was PPP which foiled the attack onparliament in 2014.

He blamed PML-N for introducing bad traditions and advised them to givesanctity to parliament or ‘they should not blame judiciary and militaryestablishment for disrespecting the legislature’.

If we can give respect to each other, only then the democracy can flourishin the country, he concluded.
