Pakistan expresses desire to strengthen long standing partnership with US

ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua while emphasizing over theneed to continue constructive engagement across the entire spectrum ofbilateral relationship, reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen its longstanding relationship with the US.

The Foreign Secretary during her official visit to Washington on March07-08 held meetings with senior US officials including US Deputy Secretaryof State John Sullivan at the State Department and Deputy National SecurityAdvisor Dr. Nadia Schadlow at the White House, said a message received hereon Friday.

Ms Janjua had in-depth discussions with South Asia experts at the USInstitute of Peace (USIP).

She interacted with US media and underscored that a mutually beneficialPak-US relationship underpinned by mutual respect would serve the commoninterests of both countries.

The Foreign Secretary reaffirmed Pakistan’s constructive approach to worktogether with the United States for regional peace and stability.

She expressed the hope that enhanced economic engagement and realizingeconomic potential in the relationship can open new vistas of long termcooperation, strengthening existing bonds of friendship between the peopleof the two countries. – APP
