Ministry of Planning clarified media reports over CPEC

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China have agreed on the future trajectory of theChina Pakistan Economic Corridor and timely completion of its ongoingprojects.

A spokesman of Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform while clarifyinga news item published in a section of press said that none of the CPECprojects is facing delay.

The spokesman added that the successful 8th Joint Cooperation Committeemeeting laid foundation for the expansion of CPEC to new heights.

He said joint efforts are underway for focusing on socio-economicdevelopment and accelerating cooperation in industrial development as wellas agriculture.

The Ministry spokesman further said that recognizing the significance ofGwadar as an important node in cross-regional connectivity and the centralpillar of CPEC, Pakistan and China have further agreed to speed up progresson the Port and its auxiliary projects.

He said Pakistan and China have also expedited cooperation in the field ofagriculture with a special focus on enhancing cooperation in the areas ofclimate change, water management, afforestation and ecological restoration.
