Occupied Kashmir paralysed on the martyrdom anniversary of hero Afzal Guru

SRINAGAR – Complete shutdown is being observed on Tuesday on the martyrdomanniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Afzal Guru in Indian-heldKashmir.

The Hurriyet leadership has also called for peaceful protests after Fridayprayers to press the demand for the return of the mortal remains ofMuhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jailto occupied Kashmir.

The puppet authorities have put Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik under house arrest or indetention to prevent them from leading anti-India demonstrations.

Life remained paralyzed across Kashmir valley due to a shutdown called onthe third death anniversary of Afzal Guru and restrictions imposed by theauthorities in parts of Srinagar city to thwart protests.

All shops and other business establishments remained closed in Srinagar andother parts of the valley while public transport remained off the roads.

Attendance in government offices, banks and other offices also remainedthin, while curfew-like restrictions have been clamped in different areas.

Muhammad Afzal Guru was hanged on the February, 9 2013 in Delhi’s TiharJail in a fake case of attack on Indian parliament.
