Meta has announced its plans to integrate third-party chats into its widely-used messaging platforms, WhatsApp and Messenger, with the initial rollout targeting users in the European Union. This upcoming update aims to provide more flexibility, enabling users to either combine messages from Messenger, WhatsApp, and supported third-party applications into a unified inbox or keep them separated based on their preference.
As part of enhancing the user experience, Meta is introducing new notification features within Messenger and WhatsApp. These notifications will inform users when they can connect chats from newly supported third-party apps.
Meta is also emphasizing its commitment to going beyond the basic requirements for interoperable messaging. It will offer a comprehensive set of features such as reactions, direct replies, typing indicators, and read receipts, ensuring users enjoy a seamless and feature-rich communication experience.
