ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif left for China on one-day visit on Thursday. National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua is also accompanying him.
Talking to the media before his departure, he said that country’s economic dependence on the US has reduced. “Russia can play an important role to reduce the regional problems,” he maintained.
The minister said that Russia’s relations with China, Iran and Gulf states have improved.
“The war against terrorism cannot be won by isolating Pakistan,” he said.
During his stay in Beijing, the minister will hold meetings with State Councillor for Foreign Affairs Yang Jiechi and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
The two sides will review bilateral relations and regional developments, including the situation in Afghanistan.
