ISLAMABAD - For the first time in history, Pakistan to host Kabbadi World Cup, International teams including India to participate in the World Cup.

Pakistan is all set to host the circle style Kabbadi World Cup for the first time in its history.

The 10-team tournament will kick off from 12 to 18 January in 2020 and the matches will be held across four venues including Lahore, Kartarpura, Nankana Sahib and Faisalabad.

The winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10 million, the runners-ups will get Rs 7.5 million whereas the third team will walk away with Rs 5 million.

The final of the mega event will be held in Lahore on 18th January.

Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) Chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain briefed the media on Thursday. PKF Secretory, Rana Sarwar was also present at the news conference.

India, Iran, Canada, Australia, United States, Sierra Leone, and Kenya have already qualified for the event, while the remaining teams will be decided later. According to the reports, India is also interested in participating in the event, however, the team’s participation will be subject to the Indian government’s permission.

The previous edition of the tournament took place in 2016 and India has won all 6 editions held so far. Pakistan has finished second 4 times in the tournament’s history.
