Iran Pakistan gas pipeline project: PM Imran Khan takes the important decision

ISLAMABAD - Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his resolve to complete gas pipeline project with Islamic Republic of Iran, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to reports, Prime Minister has issued fresh directives to the authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to implement Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.

The PM has also ordered the foreign ministry to resolve all issues with Iran amicably through mutual understanding.

He said that Pakistan should also approach the Iranian government to re-negotiate price of the gas agreed in the IP agreement.

Prime Minister Imran Khan observed that sanctions on Iran are hampering the implementation of the project.

He added that Pakistan desires to complete the IP project with Iran.

The reports say Pakistan has also decided to send demarches to the US, European Union and other international forums about the IP project.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Iran on April 21. During his two-day trip, he held important meetings with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

In their meeting, Prime Minister Khan and President Rouhani discussed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, and the means to further bolster and expand their relations in diverse fields, including IP project.
