China vice premier to visit U.S. for trade talks

Chinese Vice Premier Liu He will visit the United States this week for trade talks despite US President Donald Trump's threat to raise tariffs on Chinese products.

Beijing said today, playing down a sudden increase in tension after U.S. President vowed to impose new tariffs.

Meanwhile, the U.S. officials have said China has backtracked on substantial commitments made during months of negotiations seeking to end their bruising trade war.

Earlier, the US President had said that he would raise tariffs on 200 billion US dollars on Chinese goods to 25 percent from 10 percent by the end of this week and would soon target remaining Chinese imports with tariffs.
