WARSAW: NATO countries started massive military drills code named Anakonda-16 in Poland amid high security tensions between Russia and Europe.

20 countries including US and Poland along with 30,000 personnel, 3,000 vehicles and a large number of fighter jets and warships will take part in drills that will last for ten days.

Russia expressed deep concerns over ongoing military drills and called it a security threat.

“The exercise clearly does not contribute to an atmosphere of trust and security in the continent,” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in a statement.

However, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg tried to convince Russia.

“We have to relate to Russia and we have to work with Russia,” he said.
