FATA reforms package implementation status

Federal Minister of States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch says local government elections will be held in FATA next year.

 

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad this afternoon, he said the government is committed to give FATA people the right to elect their representatives.

 

He said FATA people have been deprived of their rights since last 70 years.

 

Federal Minister of States and Frontier Regions said final recommendations regarding merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have been prepared and would be completed in five years.

 

SAFRON Minister said under this plan, infrastructure has to be developed along with rehabilitation next year and in 2018.

Abdul Qadir Baloch said work is in progress to replace FCR with Riwaj Act in which basic rights will be ensured. He said there is a suggestion to give FATA 3% out of the divisible revenues. Every agency will be given additional 3 to 4 billion rupees.

 

Abdul Qadir Baloch said it has been decided to ensure return of all IDPs by the end of this month.

 

He said we discussed this plan both in Senate and National Assembly and incorporated the suggestions given by members.
