Punjab Police: Police Front desk project to change thana culture

LAHORE: (APP) The project for setting up Police stations Front Desk in various parts of Punjab will be completed by December this year.

As many as 210 Police Stations in the province already have the facility of Front Desks, a senior official of Punjab Home department told APP here.

He said that 15 Front Desks had become functional in Bahawalpur region including 5 in Bahawalpur City and 10 in district Rahim Yar Khan.

Front Desks initiative is a solid and progressive initiative to mitigate the trust deficit between police and citizens, he viewed.

He said the Punjab police had taken a lead in adopting information technology.

The utilization of information technology for reforms in police system and change of thana culture was a historical achievement, he added.

He said that it would accelerate the pace of modernizing the conceptual and operational framework of Police to expedite redressal of grievances and complaints of the citizens.

The official said that particulars of 1.5 lakh officers and officials of police force had been computerized.

The service record of officers and officials of Police would be available at pressing of a button and it would be utilized at the time of their posting and transfer, he added.
